Comment on this post to sign up for a story. Give me the name of the story you'd like to be responsible for, along with the names of all four people in your group. I will assign the stories in the order that requests are made, so don't request a story that someone else has already claimed.
You will have until Feb. 1 to create your Fairy Tale Resource Page, but you can keep updating and improving it throughout the semester. You should only edit your own group's page. Your page should include a fairly comprehensive, coherent narrative of where this particular story came from/what it was inspired by and how it has been received, interpreted, translated, illustrated, retold, adapted, etc. over time. Not every story will have the same amount of material relating to its reception, but there will be something for every story. If your story has lots and lots of adaptations/illustrations, you'll have to be selective in order to give representative examples without overwhelming your readers. Either way, don't just dump a bunch of material together. Curate it. Explain why you chose the examples you did and how they change the way we understand the story. Be sure to observe copyright requirements with regard to providing full citations for all images, video clips, articles, etc.
On the date that your story will be discussed in class, you and your group will be responsible for giving a 5 minute presentation about the story and its reception.
Your group's post should be collaboratively edited and authored--all group members will work together on this single page. In order to create your group's page, one group member should click the 'New Post' link that appears at the top of this page and begin a new post. You should then do three things:
- Title your post. The title of your post should be the title of the story that you've chosen.
- Assign your post a label. You should enter your story's title as its label and press the 'done' button just below.
- Press the save button at the top of the page. This will save your new post as a draft (it will not publish it, however). You and your group members may work on your post (saving your work as a draft) as much as you like. The screenshot below shows where each of these buttons are located.
Once your post is finished and ready to be published, you should click the orange 'publish' button at the top of the page. You should publish your page no later than February 1, though you may continue to update the post as the semester progresses.
"The Emperor's New Clothes" has already been created and published as an example post. You can view it clicking on the link under the heading 'Stories' to the right of this page. This is where your pages will appear after they've been published with their correct label.
